Jaipur – A tryst with luxe

Updated: Oct 28, 2018

A potpourri of history, culture, tradition, architecture and literature, Rajasthan literally means land of Kingdoms. Jaipur, the capital city is where the colours will dazzle you, the spices will blaze you, and the hospitality will overwhelm you. But to me, it was a perfect getaway for my sleepcation – the idea this time was not to roam around and explore, but to take some time off and sleep as much as I could.

Keep calm and feel like a Princess

Add royalty to the top of it – and it does wonders to your mind and body. I stepped into Taj Jai Mahal Palace, Jaipur and slept for two days straight – waking only for meals, nature’s calls and a few clicks in between.

At the end of it, I felt enormous – when everything feels just right, the body gets rejuvenated and the mind finds great peace.

I tried to capture this 270-year-old masterpiece set amidst landscaped Mughal gardens and here goes:

The portico – as surreal as it gets

The reception area

The turquoise room with sweeping views

Tradition and Modernity blend to create magic

Let the corridors tell you stories of Rajasthan

Miniature paintings – stealing hearts right away

The sprawling Palace complex

The splendid gardens confer a complete disconnect to the outer world

Antiquity and Rajasthan are synonymous

Every nook and corner has royalty dripping off it

Let the pavilions, stone paths and flowerbeds entice you

Jiva spa – Luxury encampments offering rejuvenation, the Indian way

Who wants to go back home!

Of things, larger than life

Blue and Green – the combo of joy!

Loved how this little fella was chilling out

Meditation pillow – A pouch full of herbs

Loved how Taj took care of big things, small things and all things in between!
